Northern suburbs mayors have stressed the importance of safeguarding community consultation after the State Government revealed sweeping planning reforms that will strip power from local governments to turbocharge development projects.
Premier Mark McGowan last week announced the State Government would permanently enshrine a special development pathway — set up to revive the economy after COVID — that allows the WA Planning Commission to overrule local government zoning schemes.
