City of Sydney Councillor Linda Scott says there needs to be a “local benefit” for communities experiencing an infrastructure transition to renewables.
Ms Scott sat with Sky News host Paul Murray to discuss the push for an energy transition toward renewables.
“We know when local government approve development in their local communities they ask for a contribution from the pro[ponents so the communities can see that benefit,” she said.
“We’ve been advocating on behalf of councils and communities to this federal government to ensure that in the same way these big power companies leave a contribution for communities.
“They also do this in a way that is not necessarily the best for the energy company but the best for the community.”
