A former Surf Coast resident has been appointed the new boss of the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation.
Matthew Smith is currently in Western Australia, as general manager of Miriuwung Gajerrong Aboriginal Corporation in the Kimberley region.

“The opportunity to do that, back home on Wadawurrung Country, which is also home to me is really exciting,” he said.
Mr Smith said it was an important time for the organisation.
“I’m really looking froward to working with a group down there, particularly with so much development happening in western Victoria,” he said.
“I see there’s an opportunity for the corporation to capitalise on some of those opportunities as well.”
