Local game called off as ex-AFL midfielder suffers sickening head injury - SEN

Former St Kilda midfielder Eli Templeton was rushed to hospital after a sickening incident in Saturday’s Eastern Football League clash between Balwyn and East Doncaster.

According to News Corp, Templeton suffered a fractured skull after being bumped over a fence and hitting his head on concrete at Balwyn Park.

The bump came from East Doncaster tall and former AFL ruckman Zac Clarke, and while the hit was reportedly “not malicious”, Templeton was knocked unconscious for two minutes and suffered a fractured skull.

According to Balwyn president Richard Wilson, the 26-year-old is expected to make a full recovery as he told local media that Templeton was “cognitive and speaking and passing all the tests” in hospital on Saturday night.

The on-baller was playing for Balwyn after his VFL club Port Melbourne permitted him to return to local level with the Borough facing a bye.

The game was called off Following the third-quarter incident with Balwyn leading by 23 points at the time.
