Passing of Mrs Edith Cavanagh Another link with the history of Tinonee was broken with the recent passing of Mrs Edith Cavanagh of Taree's Storm Village and formerly of Taree West. Edith was formerly a Muldoon and as a young girl grew up in Tinonee with her brothers and sisters before marrying Chum Cavanagh who has pre-deceased her. Edith passed away on Tuesday, November 2, aged 94 years. Left to mourn their mum are Peter and wife Nerida, Myree and Darrell, Margaret and John and Anthony. She was a devoted Nan to grandchildren and great grandchildren. Edith will be dearly missed by her sister Madge. Edith's funeral was held at Taree's Catholic Church on Thursday, November 11 prior to interment at Pampoolah Lawn Cemetery. Vale Cynthia Davies Wingham resident Cynthia Davies passed away on Friday, November 5 at the grand age of 90 years. Cynthia was a neighbour of the Muxlow family when she and her late husband, Deenie, and their family lived in Combined Street in Wingham for many years. I first became a friend of Cynthia when she was the Town Talk correspondent for the Wingham Chronicle when it was re-established back in the early 1980s. Cynthia's funeral service was held at St Matthew's Anglican Church, Wingham on Wednesday, November 17 where she had been a long time member of the congregation and this was followed by a private cremation. Remembrance Day in Wingham Wingham RSL Sub-branch held a moving Remembrance Day Service on Thursday, November 11 at the Wingham Town Hall and were pleased with the turn out - much smaller than normal due to the restrictions still in place. Sub-branch president Terry Gould welcomed those present including a small group of ex-service persons and veterans, representatives of Wingham High School, Wingham primary schools, Clr Kathryn Bell from MidCoast Council, Wingham Services Club, Manning Valley Historical Society, Wingham Red Cross, Wingham Sub-branch and Auxiliary, Legacy, and Ministers Fraternal who all laid wreaths at the Cenotaph. The Ode of Remembrance was recited by Sub-branch member Ron Irwin whilst the Prayer for the Fallen was delivered by Pastor Paul Smith and Prayer of Thanksgiving and Benediction was delivered by RSL chaplain Rev Darrell McKeough. Proud parents John and I are very proud of our son Andrew who phoned us on Monday to tell us the great news that he had been awarded Top Diagnostic Technician (Practical) with Detroit Diesel in Queensland and to put the "icing on the cake" he was named as Australian Diagnostic Technician for the Theory component - he received a number of items as awards last Friday at his work place watched by wife Sharona who is also employed by Detroit Diesel. Congratulations son, you have made us so proud.
