Three more local COVID cases - Riverine Herald

Yarrawonga Health (YH) have advised that a further three people have tested positive to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours adding to the two cases that were recorded yesterday.

As COVID-19 continues to emerge within the local region, YH is currently monitoring the five active cases in the community on the COVID Positive Pathways program.

In a statement released by YH this afternoon it states that the local health service continues to work with both NSW and VIC Public Health Units and will communicate any information which is in the interests of public health of the community as required.

“The community can be reassured that anyone identified as a close contact of any case, or anyone who is a household contact of someone with COVID-19, will be notified by the contact tracing team or given advice from health authorities around their situation,” the YH statement said.

“A reminder to the community that the Department of Health is not publishing any sites that represent low risk of infection, or if they have sufficient record keeping and contact tracing measures in place or are not attended by members of the public.”

Yarrawonga’s Sacred Heart Primary School have informed parents and students of the school being exposed to a COVID-19 case and have since decided to close on Friday as a pre-caution while close contacts are being confirmed and tested.

Cleaning of the school will also be done in line with COVID-19 guidelines.

The school community will continue to be informed about further updates as they become available.

If the school remains closed, home learning will commence for all classes next week.

There has been high demand at YH’s COVID-19 testing clinic on Woods Road today with wait times of around two hours forcing the YH to extend hours.

To save time at the testing clinic, you can pre-register for a COVID-19 test online. To register, complete the online form at https://testtracker.covid19.dhhs.vic.gov.au/citizen-prefill and present your unique registration code when you arrive at the testing site.

Testing is also available at the Wangaratta Showgrounds Screening Clinic, open 8.00am – 4.30pm, NO appointments necessary.

Do not delay getting a test for COVID-19 and stay at home until you receive your test result.

Vaccination is also available via ringing 03 5871 0950 or via your local trusted GPs or pharmacies.
