NSW records 332 new local cases, two deaths; Man to face court after allegedly refusing to wear mask in casino - WAtoday

Sewerage surveillance has detected fragments of the virus in a number of areas with no known cases as yet, including Dungog, Braxton, Jerilderie, Wagga Wagga, Inverell, Bonny Hills, Coffs Harbour, Dunbogan, Bega, Narooma and Moruya.

Since restrictions began to ease, NSW Health believes there has likely been transmission in “high-risk” indoor venues like bars and gyms, Dr McAnulty said.

“It’s important we all use masks when indoors and maintain those COVID safe behaviours at all times.”

Dr McAnulty urged revellers to celebrate Halloween next week in a COVID safe way.

“Aim to get the celebrations outside, provide closed packaging for treats and instead of communal lolly bowls consider other ways to distribute treats. For example, along the front fence of the house or the front yard and keep it local.

“Don’t share face masks or costume face masks,” he said, encouraging people to stick to their neighbourhood and not Trick or Treat if they were unwell.

On Friday night, police charged a 20-year-old man at The Star Casino in Pyrmont for wearing a black balaclava instead of a facemask required under the Public Health Order.

It is alleged that the 19-year-old spat at arresting officers and two other men became involved in the fracas, with one allegedly punching a police officer in the chest.

All three were taken to Surry Hills Police Station and charged, then granted conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court in December.
