In the wake of the recent popular Love Local initiative, Blue Mountains City Council has launched a new online series showcasing the work of the region's artists and chefs. Titled Love Local Connect and Create, the series features the likes of Eloise Short, the illustrator whose drawings can be found in the Blue Mountains-themed children's books, Leonard the Lyrebid and Lilah the Lyrebird, written by author Jodie McLeod. . Other artists include Alison James, Fiona Loeb, Hannah Surtees, Lauren Gero, Meredith Mallin and Lorraine Brownlee. The artists have provided activities for both children and adults to do at home, such as colouring-in sheets, guides to painting rocks, flowers and sticks, and instructions for how to make a koala mobile. Blue Mountains mayor, Cr Mark Greenhill, said: "As we begin to emerge from the extended lockdown, and the home-schooling period comes to an end, Council is providing a range of activities to support local families and provide fun alternatives to screen-time. "The Love Local Connect and Create series encourages local residents to participate in a range of art, craft and cooking activities." Those cooking activities include recipes from some of the Mountains' best-known chefs and restaurants, such as Pizza Sublime in Leura, Vincent Diner in Glenbrook, The Parade Espresso Bar & Food Emporium in Hazelbrook, Arrana in Springwood and Nook in Blaxland.
