The Local Shack Mandurah launches local legends program - Mandurah Mail

The Local Shack Mandurah has implemented new incentives to reward young athletes in junior sports teams within the community through its Local Legends program.

The program was designed to celebrate children 12 years and under involved in a school or community sports team and promote participation while building confidence through the recognition.

The Local Shack operations manager Bradley Wright said the program gave kids the opportunity to celebrate their achievements with family and friends.

"At the end of every month we give $250 back to a local primary school or a sporting team to use on whatever they like.

"Whoever the legend was from the club or school gets - well it's like a golden ticket, kind of like Willy Wonka," Mr Wright laughed.

"They get their legend certificate and two free sliders, so they can come down with their family for lunch or dinner."

Mr Wright added that he had received positive feedback from the community in regards to the program.

"It has been really good," he said.

"I think for Mandurah alone there's something like 30,000 certificates around at the moment - it has been a massive benefit and quite significant."
