The Mid Coast local government area (LGA) has one new COVID case during this recent resurgence with Hunter New England Health confirming that a person in Booral is on its positive list in the past 24 hours. The Booral case was isolating while infectious. It is not linked to a known case and investigations ongoing. It's among seven new cases in the HNE Local Health District bringing the total to 239 in the current outbreak with 109 active cases. Two are from Lake Macquarie LGA, one in Hillsborough that was infectious in community and is linked to a positive household case, and one in Cooranbong that was isolating while infectious and is linked to a close contact. Two are from Port Stephens LGA, both, from Shoal Bay, were infectious in community and are linked to the Shoal Bay cluster. One is from Maitland LGA in Thornton, was isolating while infectious and linked to a household contact One is from Newcastle LGA in Elermore Vale, was infectious in community, is unlinked and investigations ongoing. Seven of the total active cases are currently being cared for in hospital. One is in ICU. Five of the cases are linked. Four were infectious in the community; 463 close contacts are in isolation. At at State level, there were 1220 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8 pm last night, and eight deaths.
