Victoria reports no new local COVID-19 cases on Sunday amid hopes for easing of restrictions - 7NEWS.com.au

Victoria has reported its fourth “donut day” in the current COVID-19 outbreak.

There were zero new local cases of the virus reported on Sunday from more than 19,500 tests.

Two cases were detected in hotel quarantine.

There was just one new community case reported on Saturday - already in quarantine - sparking hope that gathering limits could be scrapped by the end of the week.

“I’m optimistic we’re on the right track for more things to be able to take place in coming days, for sure,” Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said.

Restrictions were eased on Thursday and, Sutton said, it was likely they’d be adjusted again this coming Thursday.

But he added that the COVID situation was assessed daily and, if possible, changes could be made sooner.

It comes as Victorians will be able to book in for their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Monday after the rollout was suspended over supply concerns.

There were 12,242 doses administered in the 24 hours to midnight on Saturday.

Adblock test (Why?)
