The latest Perth COVID-19 update from Mark McGowan has announced one new local case has been recorded.
The initial positive start to the snap Perth COVID-19 restrictions has come to an end as of 11am this morning.
Earlier this morning Mr McGowan announced there had been no new cases reported overnight, however as of 11am this morning, Mr McGowan confirmed there has been 1 new local case recorded from Mobius Health and Performance in Joondalup.
Case 1023 has been identified as a 32-year-old woman who attended Mobius Health and Performance in Joondalup. Mr McGowan also stated that from what they can ascertain she had only minimal contact with case 1022.
Contact tracing is now working through Case 1023 for further exposure sites and close/casual contacts.
“I can report that 8,398 tests were conducted yesterday, across public and private sites.
That’s a good start, but we want to see that number climb significantly… the next steps will be decided by testing numbers, whether that’s finding if the virus is lurking in the community, or having the confidence to ease restrictions.
Getting testing. Getting tested is one of the best things you can do for your fellow West Australian.” said Mr McGowan.
With regards to the initial local case 1022, 114 of her close contacts have been identified, tested, and quarantined.
27 have returned negative tests so far 1036 of her casual contacts have been identified so far. Of those, five have returned a negative test result so far, this means we will see more tests to come through shortly as well as additional close and casual contacts identified and contacted as the contact tracing teams do their essential work.
Updated exposure sites
WA Health is currently working on contact tracing, however, an addition number of exposure locations in addition to the Mobius Health and Performance Gym have been identified:
- Craigie Leisure Centre
- Mirror Park Toilets in Ocean Reef
- Le Shaggy Chic Shack in Ocean Reef (dog grooming)
- Mullaloo IGA

Granites gold mine
While Perth has recorded a new local case from case 1022, initial results for FIFO worked from Granites gold mine continue to be encouraging.
“I can advise the 177 close contacts still in Western Australia, worked at the minds of during the infectious period, so far 149 have tested negative. So it’s very encouraging, but like I said yesterday, we’re very concerned about this particular outbreak. And we won’t be in the clear until we have all contacts record negative results back to the new case today,” said Mr McGowan.
