Shellharbour local to intrude on Big Brother reality TV show - Illawarra Mercury

According to Illawarra local Adriana Fernandez, it was Big Brother who asked her to appear on the show, not the other way around. A personal fashion stylist, Ms Fernandez lives in the Shellharbour area and, in Monday night's episode of Big Brother, she enters the house as one of six intruders. "Somebody had heard about me - I have been on television before - they did get in contact with me and asked if I'd be interested," Ms Fernandez said. "I thought when something comes like this towards me I did think about it and I thought 'what have I got to lose?'. I can only show Australia what Adriana's all about, so I took it on. "I still had to do all the interviews and make sure that this is what they wanted." While sworn to secrecy ahead of her appearance on the show, Ms Fernandez did have to talk it over with her husband and their three adult sons. "I have three boys and I would never want to embarrass them so I actually had a chat with them and husband before going on," she said. "I wanted to see what their thoughts were and they said 'what have you got to lose?'." As well as being a fan of the TV show, another reason Ms Fernandez agreed to join the Big Brother house was that the show has shaken off its sleazy past - there's no late-night episodes where contestants are shown in the buff or canoodling under doonas. "What intrigued me about this show is it completely different to what the old show used to be," she said. "I love the fact that it's PG so all ages can watch it and I love the fact it's all about challenges and showing strength and emotions in the house." The show has been pre-recorded so Ms Fernandez has already served her time in the house, so on Monday night she plans on watching her entrance on TV at home. "I've been watching it religiously," she said. "I might cringe every now and then but I'm pretty proud of myself of my achievements and how far I've come so I will be watching it - and hoping my boys will be proud of me too."
