Funding secures designs for two local roads - Mirage News

Future planning of two local roads will be accelerated after Council was successful in receiving more than $4.8 million from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s State Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) Program.

The funding will go towards road designs for Dickson Road in Leppington ($1.8 million) and Springfield Road in Catherine Field ($3 million).

Mayor of Camden, Cr Theresa Fedeli, said the funding allowed Council to start working on future planning for Camden.

“Camden is fast becoming the perfect area to live in or visit and this funding will go towards improving accessibility in and around our area,” Cr Fedeli said.

“These designs will allow for the continued planning for both areas around Dickson Road in Leppington and Springfield Road in Catherine Field.

“I thank the State Government for their funding and look forward to seeing the designs come to fruition in the future.”

Camden State MP, Peter Sidgreaves, said the funding would allow for better road accessibility.

“Funding for the right infrastructure in the right place at the right time will ensure our growing region is able to provide a better quality of life for our current and future residents,” Mr Sidgreaves said.

The DPIE has collected funds through the State VPA Program to assist in funding the infrastructure required for the release of new housing and employment land in areas where contributions revenue is collected.
