Fashion Revolution Bermagui is holding its third annual event this week to raise awareness for sustainable fashion. A number of South Coast sustainable fashion designers, makers, brands, recyclers and up-cyclers will come together at the Bermagui Surf Life Saving Club from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, April 24. Fashion Revolution Week is celebrated globally to acknowledge fashion makers locally and abroad. "This year's fashion stalls will be very mixed and varied, to reflect what is happening globally in the sustainable fashion space," event coordinator Yolanda del Valle-Buetefuer said. Several Far South Coast designers will be putting up stalls on the day as will Real World Design, which organisers are very excited about. Real World Design provides a range of hemp clothing and is moving towards a circular fashion (recycling clothes) business model. Organisers are also very excited about Bega store Green Queen joining on the day. Green Queen is known for selling recycled fashions online and in its store on Carp St, Bega. Another local online urban recycling brand to join on the day is Dressed to Death, which is launching its label at Saturday's event. Sustainable jeweler from Bega Cardog Designs, which has been designing creative and unique jewelry for 25 years, will also be attending. Ms del Valle-Buetefuer said Cardog Designs was inspired by discarded objects and materials, "finding the precious in non-precious items". "This an event full of wonderful designs, creations and recycled fashion from suppliers who are committed to the bigger sustainable picture which is for this industry to be kinder, fairer, more ethical and sustainable," Ms del Valle-Buetefuer said. "The industry is changing, but we still have so far to go," she said. "Ask the questions, who made my clothes, my shoes, my handbags, my earrings. Put a face to the maker. And recycle, recycle, recycle."
