The COVID-19 cluster that triggered Brisbane’s shutdown grew overnight as millions of people in south-east Queensland spent their first night locked down.
At least two more people have been infected with the UK strain of COVID-19 in Queensland outside of hotel quarantine.
It was understood the cases are linked to an unvaccinated Brisbane nurse, who was treating COVID-19 positive patients before going on leave.
The woman, whose sister had already been infected, was the second unvaccinated health worker at the Princess Alexandra Hospital to catch the virus this month.
Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young and Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk were expected to provide a case update at 9am Tuesday (AEST).
The nurse and her sister spent a Bachelorette weekend away at Byron Bay while unknowingly infectious.
