JOHN Rosley has spent over 35 years practising as a highly successful solicitor, dealing in a range of legal areas including international family law matters.

Returning to Australia from the UK some nine years ago he chose to live on the Coffs Coast, setting up a small practice in mediation.

However, John felt that it was time to explore some creative activities that he had not had time for in the past and joined a creative writing class with the local University of the Third Age (U3A) where he rediscovered a love of Shakespeare and began writing short stories.

Encouraged by the feedback he was receiving for these quirky and fun pieces, he decided to set to work on something more substantial and created his first novel ‘The Watson Conundrum’, a crime thriller that draws on his international legal knowledge and experiences with diverse characters from around the world.

John said of the work, “I have always liked the idea of writing, but I never thought I had a novel in me.”

The book is described on Amazon as a crime thriller offering an insight into the world of mercenaries who are used like pawns on a chessboard by their Mafia bosses who will never see the inside of a prison cell.

John has also compiled his short stories and published them as ‘Tales of Murder Mayhem and Mischief: From Australia and Beyond’ which is also available on Amazon.

‘The Watson Conundrum’ should be available through the library and also through Coffs Harbour Book Warehouse.
